How to Manage System Detectors
Last updated: July 23, 2026
In this article: How to choose which data types Phaselaw automatically detects and suggests for redaction.
Phaselaw uses built-in data-type detectors to automatically flag personal data for redaction. Admins can turn individual detectors on or off so that redaction suggestions focus only on the data types relevant to your work.
System detector settings are only available to admins. Detector settings apply to the next document processed - we recommend configuring these before uploading your files to the case.
How to manage System Detectors
From the left sidebar, click Configuration
Under General Settings, scroll down to System Detectors
Toggle each detector on or off as needed

What if I need to regenerate suggestions on an existing document?
If you've changed your detector settings after a document has already been processed, you'll need to reset the document to regenerate suggestions. Resetting a document permanently removes all redactions, edits and comments. This cannot be undone. → Resetting a Document to Its Original State
